Before his master, Xander disappeared , he left Lucario a note: "I'm sorry that I have left you like this. But I can't risk your life in these missions anymore. I wish for you to live your own life, something I can never do. Best regards, Xander."

Taking his master's advice, he left their old home in search of a new life. During his adventures he entered a giant city, which was rumored to have two legendary pokemon lurking about. In desperate need of money he decided to use his skills as a bounty hunter to take the job of finding out if they exist.

Three weeks pass, Lucario hasn't had much luck with his task, when he stumbles upon an abandoned area in the middle of the city, thriving with pokemon. He sees that they are all struggling to survive in these harsh alleyways. Then he hears someone crying for help, all of the pokemon rush to the where the plea came from. Lucario, being a kind-hearted pokemon, decided to see what was going on as well and rushed off in the same direction. There, he saw that a Lopunny got herself trapped under a broken off corner of a worn out building. All of the pokemon tried to get it off, but it was too heavy for them to lift. Lucario then stepped in to rescue the young pokemon. Using the Aura techniques that he learned from his master, he was able to lift the piece of rubble off of her.

Afterwards the pokemon accepted him as one of them, and decided to build him a place to sleep. He then went off to sit on a hill that was near where his new home was going to be. The Lopunny that he rescued then came up to him and gave him a small piece of red fabric as thanks for saving her. He placed the red cloth on a scratch that he got from jumping down off the roof, and thanked her for it. Afterwards, he decided to try harder to find the two legendary pokemon so that he can earn money so that he can supply his new friends with fresh food and water.
